Category-specific discovery tools within the Marketplace designed for professional procurement rather than consumer browsing patterns.

Glossary

Definitions

Definitions of technical, business, financial, economic, and SaintsLink-specific terminology encountered throughout the Archive and the wider SaintsLink knowledge environment.

A
API Technology
Application Programming Interface. A defined set of protocols and tools that allows software applications to communicate with each other. APIs enable different systems — such as a CRM and an ERP — to share data and functions without direct integration of their underlying codebases.
Automation Technology
The use of software or systems to perform tasks that would otherwise require human input. In business contexts, automation is most commonly applied to repetitive administrative, data-entry, and reporting workflows.
B
B2B Business
Business-to-Business. Transactions, relationships, or models in which one business provides products or services to another business, rather than directly to individual consumers.
B2C Business
Business-to-Consumer. Commercial models where a business sells or provides services directly to individual end users.
C
Cloud Infrastructure Technology
Computing resources — including servers, storage, networking, and databases — delivered over the internet and managed by a third-party provider. Cloud infrastructure allows businesses to scale without owning or maintaining physical hardware.
CRM — Customer Relationship Management Business Technology
A system or strategy used to manage a company's interactions and relationships with existing and prospective customers. CRM software centralises contact information, communication history, sales pipelines, and customer activity in one accessible environment.
D
Data Governance Business · Technology
The framework of policies, standards, and practices that determines how data is collected, stored, managed, and used within an organisation. Effective data governance ensures data quality, security, and accountability.
Digital Transformation Strategy
The process by which organisations integrate digital technology into their operations, fundamentally changing how they function and deliver value. It often involves rethinking existing processes rather than simply digitising them.
E
ERP — Enterprise Resource Planning Business Technology
An integrated system that manages core business functions — including finance, operations, human resources, procurement, and supply chain — within a unified platform. ERP systems reduce information silos and provide a consolidated view of business performance.
M
Marketplace Commerce
A platform that facilitates transactions between multiple buyers and sellers. Unlike a single-vendor shop, a marketplace aggregates supply from multiple sources and provides infrastructure for discovery, transactions, and fulfilment coordination.
Multi-Tenancy Technology
An architecture in which a single software instance serves multiple customers (tenants), with each customer's data kept isolated and secure from others. Multi-tenant systems are the foundation of most modern SaaS platforms.
R
ROI — Return on Investment Finance
A measure of the profitability or efficiency of an investment relative to its cost. ROI is calculated as net gain divided by cost of investment, typically expressed as a percentage.
S
SaaS — Software as a Service Technology · Business Model
A software distribution model in which applications are hosted in the cloud and accessed by users via a subscription, rather than installed locally. SaaS eliminates the need for on-premise maintenance and allows continuous updates without user intervention.
SME — Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Business
A business classification typically defined by employee count, revenue, or both. SMEs form the majority of business entities in most economies and are the primary focus of SaintsLink's technology solutions.
Supply Chain Operations
The end-to-end network of organisations, activities, resources, and technology involved in producing and delivering a product or service — from raw material sourcing to final customer delivery.
